Special Programs
Foreign Language - We feel blessed to have such a diverse family representation at Kids`R`Kids of West Cary. For that reason, we introduce your child to many different languages throughout their years with us. Kids`R`Kids of West Cary offers our students Spanish lessons provided by a visiting professional who specializes in the Spanish language. In addition, our preschool classrooms utilize teaching aids representing many other languages. Some examples of these are French, Chinese, and Indian dialects. These lessons are reinforced by our teachers in their daily circle time activities. Teachers introduce the days of the week, counting, basic greetings, colors and more. There’s no better time to learn another language than during the early childhood years.
Sign Language - In an attempt to encourage a broad spectrum of language arts, we are pleased to announce our Sign Language program which develops fine-motor skills, hand-eye coordination skills and inclusion of diversity in communication. Sign language starts in our infant room with our Baby Sign Language Program and continues throughout the school with the American Standard Sign Language Cards. With sign language, children who are still learning to speak are able to communicate their desires, eliminating frustration and encouraging fullfilled expression.
Health and Fitness - Recent studies show that our society, through the comforts of technology and fast food, has enabled childhood obesity to reach epidemic proportions. Kids`R`Kids of West Cary knows how important physical activity is to any child’s development, and that is why our centers include the Kids ‘R’ Kids Health and Fitness Challenge. Our unique Health and Fitness Program provides the tools for kids of all ages to learn how to be healthy. Throughout this curriculum, we emphasize healthy bodies, the food pyramid, family style dining, and physical fitness. We stress the importance of fair play, team cooperation, and physical well-being. We want our families to live healthy and be strong!
Computers - Our children are growing up in an ever-increasing world of technology. Our goal is to equip and prepare your child to feel comfortable using computers in order to expand his/her learning experiences both now and throughout the elementary years and beyond. To accomplish this, we offer computers in our preschool and pre-kindergarten classrooms. Each computer is set up with educational, age-appropriate software.
Music - Music is an incredible tool that enhances brain development. Our music programs expose children to a variety of musical styles and techniques while awakening their inner abilities. Children have the opportunity to play instruments, engage in singing activities, and compose their own musical masterpieces.
Soccer - Soccer has become a very popular sport among children. The sport promotes physical fitness, teamwork and individual self-esteem. For these reasons, we have partnered with "Kinder Kixx" to teach our preschoolers the wonderful game of soccer. The program is offered on a weekly basis during weather-appropriate months.
Dance - Dancing helps even the youngest child express herself/himself with music and movement, whether it is free interpretation or choreographed movements. We have teamed up with "Fancy Feet" to offer classes and instruction in dance. Kids love to perform and express themselves with music and movement as they gain a great sense of accomplishment while doing so.
